Coach or Minibus? How to Choose the Right Vehicle for Your Group
When you book group transport in London, the first question is usually: do we need a coach or will a minibus do? The answer depends on more than headcount.
Group size
8 seater MPV: up to 8 passengers
16 seater minibus: up to 16 passengers
Midi coach: 29 or 33 passengers
Full-size coach: 53, 57, 61 or 68 seats
Double decker: up to 85 passengers
Luggage
Coaches have large under-floor luggage holds, which makes them the better choice for airport transfers, cruise transfers and multi-day tours. Minibuses have less space, so for heavy luggage consider going one size up.
Access and parking
Minibuses can reach places a full-size coach cannot, such as narrow streets, hotel driveways and some venues in central London. If your pick-up or drop-off point has limited access, a minibus or midi coach may be the better option.
Comfort on longer journeys
For trips outside London, coaches usually offer more legroom and onboard features. Our executive coaches and luxury minibuses both have reclining seats and air conditioning.
Cost
A smaller vehicle is usually cheaper, but two minibuses can cost more than one coach. If your group is close to the limit of a minibus, ask us to quote for both options.
